GENERATION OF COMPUTER

THE WORD GENERATION INDICATE A STATE OF IMPROVEMENT IN THE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS WITH EACH NEW GENERATION OF COMPUTER.

THEIR FIVE GENERATION OF COMPUTER:-

FIRST GENERATION:- (1940-1956)  = VACUUM TUBE

  • They generate a lot of heat.
  • They consumed a lots of electricity.
  • They were very bulky in size.
  • Vacuum tube use to filaments that that had limited life.
  • This computer needed constant maintenance because of the low main time failure.
  • This computer had limited commercial use they where difficult to program.
  • They where expensive.
SECOND GENERATION:- (1956-1963) = TRANSISTORS

  • They consume less electricity and thus generate less heat as compare to the first GENERATION computer.
  • They where faster, cheaper, smaller and more reliable then first generation computer.
  • They could be program using assembly language and high level language.
  • These computer had faster memory and lager secondary memory.
  • These computer where manufacture by using Transistors which had to assemble manual.
  • This made commercial production of computers difficult and expensive.
Ex:- COBOL, FORTRAN, ALGO, & SNOBOL

  1.  COBOL:- COmmon Business-oriented language.
  2. FORTRAN:- Formula, Translation/ Translator.
  3. ALGOL:- Algorithmic Language.
  4. SNOBOL:- StriNg Oriented and Symbolic Language.

THIRD GENERATION:- (1964-1971)= Integrated Circuit

  • They were faster they second generation computer and could preform 1 million transaction/second.
  • They were smaller cheaper and more reliable then their predecessors.
  • These computer had faster and larger primary memory and secondary storage.
  • Third generation computer were whitley use for scientific as well as business application.
  • During this generation of computer , standardization existing high level long and invention of new high level long happend.
  • These computers were difficult to maintain they got heated very quality.
Ex:- PL/I  and BASIC

FOURTH GENERATION:- (1971-1989) = Microprocessor.

Intel 4004 was first microprocessor by Intel corporation (USA) i 1971 for small purpose.
It was a 4 bits microprocessor.
  • Ones they consume less electricity and generate less heat they had faster and longer primary memory and secondary storage.
  • They cloud be use as general purpose computer.
Ex:- MsDos, Microsoft OS, Unix, apple, etc

FIFTH GENERATION:- (1990-Today)=

  • 5th generation computer are completely based on the new concept of artificial intelligence (AI).
  • Gaming:- PUBG, COC, 8 ball pool, GTA ,Asphalt, etc
  • Expert system :- medical diagnosis, Nuclear
  •  Natural language Google now, cortana, siri.
  • Robotics:- Arduino, etc

VIDEO

VIDEO  Video  is an  electronic  medium for the recording,  copying , playback,  broadcasting , and display of  moving   visual   media History Video technology was first developed for mechanical television systems, which were quickly replaced by cathode  ray tube  (CRT) television systems, but several new technologies for video display devices have since been invented. Video was originally exclusively a live technology. Charles Ginsburg led an Ampex research team developing one of the first practical video tape recorder (VTR). In 1951 the first video tape recorder captured live images from television cameras by converting the camera's electrical impulses and saving the information onto magnetic video tape.
